Classic Rock - In Print

Last week, a nice wee parcel arrived through the door with a few copies of issue 152 of Classic Rock. It's a strange feeling seeing the final magazine and seeing my work in there, especially after I've read it religiously for about 8/9 years. The issue is on sale until the 8th of December. Here's some (not very good) photographs of how the work I did turned out.

Classic Rock - the sequel

Here's the what I was up to in the last few days at Classic Rock, mainly working on the reviews section. Art directing the shoot, was completely different from doing one a uni, I chose the lighting, background and briefed the photographer Kevin Nixon on what I wanted - trying to make a guy in his 60's holding a guitar not look like every other guy in his 60's holding a guitar. Luckily, Chris Spedding has a cool  quiff and a very badass Gretch. He was a Womble too!

Classic Rock

For the past week and a half, I have been on placement in the hallowed ground that is Classic Rock magazine in London. I've been lucky enough to have been working alongside the deputy art editor on the issue 152 which will be hitting the stands next month, some varied stuff and I've been down to have a nosy at the Future photography studio, where I will be art directing a photo shoot tomorrow for the mag with guitarist Chris Spedding ('Motorbiking' and tours in Jeff Wayne's War of the World). I've learnt alot so far, and even just seeing how the magazine is created has been interesting - the retouching and pre-press department is impressive!

So here's a wee sneak at what I've been up to! More soon.

"All I Need In Life" EP

Following from the photo shoot I did a few weeks back with Little Fire, it was decided that for now an EP was needed for Jamie's gig in Ayr Town hall supporting The Bad Sheppards (Viv from The Young Ones!) as part of the Septembayr  Festival, and a few other gigs he has booked.

Back in May, I was asked by Ben Robinson, the organiser of the Kendal Calling, to help re-brand their dance tent. Called "GLoW," the new logo had to to fit in with the visuals of the festival already in place but also stand alone as it's own clean identity. The main concept of the logo was to reflect the UV lights, and day glow colours that were used in the tent, so it could be used on signage, flyers and in the tent itself. The dance tent was a success and GLoW nights are now being set up to take place in Brough, Cumbria.

An Evening down the shore

I'm currently in the process of collating material and ideas for Little Fire's debut album, so to get started we headed down to Greenan beach for a quick photo shoot. This is my first shoot working with a musician and I'm pretty pleased with the range of images we got. Hopefully these will be used somewhere in the album

Other images from the shoot are now uploaded to my flickr site, which you can get in the bar to the left or by clicking here. More work will be posted as I have it.
